In A Country Made of Weather, I built an unreachable landscape from broken strata, a pale converging estuary, suspended pressure bands and scattered signs of accretion. I work with the tension between a place that holds together at a distance and the repeated systems revealed up close. Comparing a glacial field with a deeper basin led me toward the basin, and I kept the fifth version when a later revision weakened its small-scale focus. My developing collection follows the meeting of atmosphere and mineral matter: pictures in which a change of density, edge or surface can make a whole environment felt.
