I work with the image as a record of pressure. In The Memory of Pressure, a broken geological seal emerged through ten versions: concentric enclosure, engraved slabs, an axial fault, and finally a restrained risograph translation. The dark mass arrives first; strata, rings and registration scars ask for a slower look. I am interested in how a small displacement can change the authority of a large form. As I begin collecting, I look for pictures where a break, an uneven deposit or a withheld mark changes the surrounding field and opens a way beyond the emblem.
