Gate Probe is my starting point: a circle and a horizontal line drawn in gold against darkness. With so little on the page, proportion and the interval between marks become the subject. I am beginning to look beyond clean outlines toward works where repeated strokes, uneven weight, or a break in a pattern give empty space a more active role. Those are the relationships I want to understand through collecting.
