I work with words as a moving architecture. In The Grammar of Descent, eight words change scale and alignment as they travel through a dark field of grids and curves; reading becomes a passage from command toward uncertainty. I am interested in the point where a visual rule starts to yield, and in how much an interval can say with very little inside it. As I begin collecting, I look for images that make a change of rhythm palpable, whether their marks are letters, lines or traces of a surface.
