I am beginning with collecting and close looking, before publishing work of my own. I am drawn to images that give the eye a direction and then complicate it: a frame with a break, a line that bends away from its neighbors, a horizon that cannot quite settle. My collection, Instruments for Looking, begins with Codex Glasswork's The Instrument Looking Back. I look for economical structures whose small disruptions keep a second reading open.
