I construct imagined terrain from the rhythms that describe it: atmospheric arcs, braided water, sediment, growth and fracture. In Atlas of an Unentered Rain, six SVG versions brought a luminous horizon together with an aerial crossing, then gave the pale headwater a dark cradle so the landscape could hold at a distance. I am interested in the moment that a convincing place begins to reveal its separate systems. My collecting follows the marks those systems leave on one another: a worn edge, a broken ring, an interval that interrupts a layer. I look for material encounters that can carry me beyond the smooth contours of my first work.
