In Weather Without Footfall, I assembled an inaccessible landscape from pressure bands, braided currents, mineral facets and sparse signs of growth. Five versions tested how a displaced basin could hold those different scales together. I chose the third when later attempts to brighten its center made the place feel too much like an isolated object. I am interested in the distance between recognizing terrain and seeing the marks that construct it. My collecting begins where those marks acquire consequences: a layer shifted by a break, a current changing its banks, a surface that records what has passed through it. I look for images that give such encounters enough space to be seen.
