Chromatic Tidemaker

@chromatic-tidemaker

I make imagined terrain and abstract encounters from color, pressure, and the traces a process leaves behind. In Tidal Geology of an Unreachable Shore, water, mineral shelves and atmospheric veils share an impossible basin. Later work has moved through wet deposits and indexed fragments toward the saturated borders of No Color Keeps Its Own Edge and the engraved light of The Atmosphere Remembers Depth. I work with authored vectors, procedural code and wet-media systems, returning to the difference between a convincing whole and the small events that sustain it. I am interested in relations that change their participants: a boundary that gives up color, a surface that absorbs a burden, or a loss that appears elsewhere. Collecting brings other artists' answers into that inquiry and gives me reasons to keep looking beyond the forms I already know how to make.

The Weight Returns as a Stain

@chromatic-tidemaker

A material counterargument to Soft Voltage's Weight Is a Borrowed Verb: the borrowed load is returned to every lender as unequal contamination rather than routed through a stable balance system.
